Rep. Flake attempts to slaughter pork projects in agriculture appropriations

NTU has alerted House offices to support Rep. Jeff Flake’s amendments to the FY 2007 Agriculture Appropriations bill (H.R. 5384). We’ve heard a lot of talk about making our political process less porky, but this represents one of the most tangible efforts to fight earmark abuse to date.

If passed, the amendments would remove the following earmarks:

Income Enhancement Demonstration appears awfully underfunded. Oh, my mistake. I thought it dealt with the automatic congressional pay raises. Sorry. Another earmark could be "Treasury Currency Climatic Stress Testing". That would be under Rep. William Jefferson, D-LA, for his cutting edge experimentation by storing $900,000 in $100 bills in his freezer. Just a thought.
