While the idea of "report cards" might strike fear into the hearts of men (I still wake up in a cold sweat at the thought of getting a "U" in penmanship from Mrs. Otimo in third grade), that's nothing compared to the anxiety attacks that this year's RePork Card should produce.
Now that the official House of Representatives’ Appropriations Season has ended, the Club for Growth has released their 2007 RePork Card. The RePork Card records members’ votes on all anti-earmark amendments offered to the Appropriations bills.
According to the Club for Growth, Jeff Flake, John Campbell, Jeb Hensarling, Scott Garret, and even David Obey (who offered a single amendment, and then promptly voted against it) offered a total of 50 amendments. Of those 50, only one amendment passed: an amendment offered by Flake to remove funds for Patrick McHenry’s Perfect Christas Tree Project.
Average support for these amendments was 89 votes in favor, which is disappointing until you realize that last year Representative Flakes Amendments averaged an even lower 67 votes in favor.
Be sure to check out the RePork Card to see how your member did (I’m represented by a 0 percent supporter of pork cuts).
RePork Card Time!
