Check out the Nevada Research Policy Institute's new transparency website, www.transparentnevada.com. Launched earlier this week, the site enables users to search through county and state financial data such as purchasing contracts, lobbying expenses, budgets, and government employee salaries. The site also features a blog.
More good news: Nevada will have an official transparency website launched soon, thanks to an executive order from Governor Jim Gibbons. Nevertheless, as the President of the Nevada Research Policy Institute, Sharon Rossie, said in her press release, "There is simply no substitute for independent, non-governmental oversight of public financing. NPRI is proud to provide this valuable service to Nevada citizens.”
